Meet Ted Fitzgerald
Born in La Jolla, Calif., Ted spent his earliest years in San Diego and in the Seattle area before his family relocated to Oregon to raise sheep and cattle. Arriving in Curry County at age 6, Ted established lifelong friendships with peers and community members, read as many books as possible in the Azalea and BHHS libraries, and participated in sports, band and 4-H clubs for horsemanship and horticulture.
After graduating from Brookings-Harbor High School in 1980, Ted attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, graduating four years later with a degree in English. Next he was employed as a life insurance agent, including working in Europe for a year. Ted then attended the University of San Francisco School of Law. After graduation, he passed the bar examinations for California and Oregon and settled down to raise his family while practicing law and managing other businesses.
Ted’s legal work centers on complex business litigation, specializing in probate and trust issues, as well as business receiverships.
Ted has also worked as a consultant to local businesses, including serving as Executive Director of the Port of Brookings Harbor from 2011 until 2016. He also spent 18 months working as Executive Director of the Port of Friday Harbor, Washington. In 2022, the Curry County Board of Commissioners hired Ted as County Counsel.
